Born July 29, 1852, Commodore Perry Owens was named after naval hero Commodore Oliver Perry. In 1887, he was elected sheriff for Apache County, Arizona. Commodore Perry also served as a special officer for the railroad, express messenger for Wells Fargo, and for many years - a deputy U.S. Marshall. He died in 1919.
