Butch Cassidy's real name was Robert Leroy Parker. He was born in Beaver, Utah, on Apr. 13, 1866. Butch Cassidy was the oldest of 13 children and had never gone to school. Cassidy became a cowboy while still in his teens. He met a man named 'Mike Cassidy' who took the 'Cassidy' part of Butch's name and used it for himself - Mike was also the leader of a gang. Soon after they met, Mike disappeared, and Butch took over his gang. Butch worked with many people, including the Sundance Kid. They robbed many places, and were finally caught and killed in November, 1908 by soldiers in a gunfight.
